A Dive into Mythology
Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre LITEXPO Vilnius, Lithuania
22-25 February 2024
The Vilnius Academy of Arts, a DIMYMYDI Digital Mythologies- Mythical Digitalities project partner, organised a pop-up exhibition titled "A Dive into Mythology" at the Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre LITEXPO during 22-25 February 2024.
The event was organised by the Lithuanian Publishers Association, the Lithuanian Culture Institute and LITEXPO. The Vilnius Book Fair is the largest annual book fair in the Baltic States and the largest cultural and music event in Lithuania, with more than 300 events and more than 340 exhibitors at their stands over the four event days. The fair's organisers estimated that more than 55,000 visitors came to the Vilnius 2024 Book Fair.
One of the exhibitors at the fair was a team from the Vilnius Academy of Arts participating in the DIMYMYDI project. At the four-day pop-up exhibition, they presented A2-sized spreads from the unique, one-of-a-kind artist book "A Dive into Mythology" including Augmented Reality (AR) features. With the help of student volunteers who downloaded
the free ARTIVIVE app on their phones or tablets, the public could see the media elements unfold as metaphorical scenes and mythical creatures, legends and stories came to life. Throughout the event, student volunteers manned the exhibition stand and assisted everyone interested to explore the mythical digital content.
The exhibition was featured in Panorama, the national TV news programme on 22 February, 2024: https://www.lrt.lt/mediateka/irasas/2000322780/panorama-su-vertimu-i-gestu-k
